Rock Princess Cake

I was asked to make a birthday cake for a Rock Princess themed party.  I have to say, this is one of the funnest cakes I've made so far.  I didn't actually get any pictures of the cake before I delivered it because I didn't put the stars and stuff on the cake until I got there with it, but the girl that asked me to make the cake was nice enough to take some pretty great pics. =]

The cake is chocolate and it's covered in buttercream.  I smoothed the icing used the VIVA method.  And of course, the other accents are fondant.

The guitar is made with royal icing.  I found a template online and just traced it on the wax paper.  Then, I added some confectioner's paint and buttercream to decorate it.

Here is the smash cake I made to match it.  I didn't put too much fondant on it so it would be much easier for the little girl to eat and not get choked or anything like that.

I really enjoyed this cake! =]

Mario Cake!

So, November 17th was my Mama's birthday and she loves Mario.  And I've been dying to make a Mario cake for her.  So here's what I came up with.

I made the Mario and pipe out of fondant the day before and let him dry overnight.  I put him together with toothpicks and a wooden dowl rod after everything dried.

Once he was put together, he looked really cute!  He was a little heavy, though, and the pipe smooshed in just a little bit. :/

I also made some different accents on the side with fondant.  They're all just MMF and some buttercream.

And my mom requested plain yellow cake with buttercream icing.  It was her birthday, so she got what she wanted! ;)

Duck Baby Shower Cake

So, I had a request for a baby shower cake with little ducks on it from a girl named Angie.  I was actually sent a picture of what Angie wanted, so I tried to replicate it.

I wasn't about to find actual rubber duckies.  Everywhere I went was sold out.  Hard to believe such a simple thing was so hard to find, huh?  But thankfully, I found these little plastic ducks and I think they worked out well.

The cake is white cake covered in buttercream.  I smoothed the buttercream using the "Viva Method."  And of course, the accents are fondant.

I even made cute little pink bows to go on the plastic ducks.

I'm so glad this cake turned out this cute!

Flashback

So, I was going through pics on my computer and I found this.  I just had to share it.

This is my first time using fondant EVER.  I hadn't really started making cakes yet, but I made this for my boyfriend's niece.  It was her first birthday and I decided to make a piggy.

I used the top of the large cupcake pan for the piggy's body and some Wilton Ready-To-Use fondant for the rest.  I don't think I did too bad of a job... haha

I think it's funny that I actually forgot all about this.  In a way, it's my very first cake!

Zebra Inside-Out Cake

I previously posted this on my other blog, but since I didn't really like my other blog, I wanted to make sure I posted this here.

So, I always love doing zebra stripe cakes and a while back, I was on CakeCentral.com and seen a cake that was zebra striped on the inside.  It looked WAY hard, so I totally just forgot about it.

I told a girl I work with about it a week or so ago and she actually found a site that showed you how to do it.  So, I did it!  And since it was so easy, I'll show you how I did it!

First, you need 2 bowls of cake batter.  The tutorial I seen used white and chocolate (which I'm sure was yummy), but I used white cake mix and black cake mixed that I used food coloring in.

So next, using 1/3 cup measuring cups (you'll need one for each bowl) and drop the batter in the middle of the pans.
Then, you will want to drop the opposite color on top.
Keep doing this over and over until your pans look something like this:
Once baked, mine looked like this:
Now, this was a cake just mostly to see what the inside looked like, so I didn't spend much time on the decorating part.  So, this is the cake...
And FINALLY, this is what the cake looked like on the inside:
It turned out pretty cool!  So, you should totally try it!
