Hello Kitty Purse Cake

This is a birthday cake for a little girl who turned 7.  Her mother said she was very girly and liked Hello Kitty, so we decided to do a purse cake.

The cake itself is chocolate cake covered and decorated with MMF.  All of the make-up accents are also MMF.

I also made a match of cupcakes to go with the cake.  They are chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with buttercream icing.  I bought some of the pretty pink Wilton cupcake liners and they matched pretty well. :)

I really liked the way this cake turned out.

WVU Football Helmet Cake

So, I've decided that this is one of my favorite cakes so far!  I made this for my dad's birthday, and anyone that knows us knows we are slightly hardcore WVU fans.  Haha.  So here is what I came up with.

The "field" part of the cake is a chocolate sheet cake covered with buttercream.  The helmet is made from two 6-inch round cakes and half of the sports ball pan.  I stacked them, froze them, and then carved them.  I covered the helmet with fondant.

The face mask is made from gum paste.  And even though I know I'm supposed to mold it and let it dry and NOT touch it until it's ready, I kept playing with it so it cracked a little. :/  Haha.

But still, one of my favorites.  I loved this cake. =]

Baby Bear Shower Cake

This is a baby shower cake that I made.  The entire cake is covered in MMF and the bear is also made from fondant.  I used impression mats and cut out blocks for a quilt.

I think he turned out super cute. =]
